Unlicensed Bisbee Man Guilty of Contracting Without a License

Phoenix, Ariz., (Feb. 10, 2021) — On Mon., Feb. 8, 2021, Josildo Bonfim, 58 of Bisbee, was found guilty of Contracting Without a License, a Class 1 Misdemeanor, in the Bisbee Justice Court.

The charge stemmed from a 2019 Arizona Registrar of Contractors (AZ ROC) investigation that found Bonfim contracted to remodel a kitchen and dining nook for $4,750. 

However after being paid $4,230, Bonfim abandoned the job without finishing the work. The homeowners also alleged most of the work he did complete was poor and would need to be redone by a licensed contractor. Additionally, the work required a permit but no building permit was obtained.

Bonfim has never been a licensed contractor in Arizona.  Over the past couple of years prior to the remodeling project, the homeowners hired Bonfim for minor repairs after he was recommended to them by several neighbors in the area. 

The Bisbee Justice Court ordered Bonfim to pay $1,960 in fines and fees.
