Unlicensed Mohave County Builder Arrested by Lake Havasu City PD
PHOENIX, Ariz., (July 3, 2020) — On Tues., June 30, 2020, at approximately 1:30 PM, Kevin Park Woodbury, 61 of Lake Havasu City, was arrested by the Lake Havasu City Police Department without incident, in the parking lot of a coffee shop near the 1880 block of Kiowa Avenue.
He was booked into the Lake Havasu City Jail.
A warrant was issued for Woodbury's arrest after a grand jury indictment was filed by the Mohave County Attorney's Office in March 2020. Woodbury, DBA KW Construction, faces the charges of Taking ID of Another, a Class 4 Felony, Forgery, a Class 4 Felony, Contracting Without a License, a Class 1 Misdemeanor, and Advertising Without a License, a Class 1 Misdemeanor.
The charges stem from two AZ ROC investigations, the first beginning in March 2019, after the Lake Havasu City Building Department alerted AZ ROC of an unlicensed builder submitting suspicious permit applications. Specifically he is accused of forging a homeowner's signature on a permit application and using another company's AZ ROC license number on a permit application, his insurance information, and a local newspaper advertisement. The case was submitted to the Mohave County Attorney's Office for charging review.
In September 2019, a second AZ ROC investigation was opened after the Lake Havasu City Building Department contacted AZ ROC regarding an additional permit application submitted by Woodbury. The owner-builder permit application was submitted after a Lake Havasu Building Inspector posted a stop work order on an unpermitted backyard pergola project. Woody is suspected of Contracting Without a License. This investigation was also submitted to the Mohave County Attorney's Office for charging review.
