Women in Construction Week

Women in Construction Week (WIC Week) is held annually during the second week in March to highlight the importance of women in the construction science technology industry and raise awareness about the opportunities for women to work in the field.

Though they account for half of the general population, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, women only made up about 10.9 percent of the construction industry in 2020.

Construction has traditionally been seen as a male-dominated industry and career choice. Due to the ongoing skills gap and labor shortage however, the industry is not just open to women - it's in need of them. It's estimated that the United States will be short one million construction science technology professionals by 2023.

National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) chapters across the country will be holding WIC Week events and will be getting involved in their communities. Other organizations are also encouraged to participate and support women in construction. Get involved on social media with #WICWeek2021!
